Premier League club Watford are setting their sights on Internazionale right-back Davide Santon this summer.
Santon has been linked with a move away from the San Siro after struggling to get a place in the side. Now, according to Club Call, Watford are ready to pounce and bring Santon to Vicarage Road ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Italy international does have experience playing in England following a three and a half year spell with Newcastle United in 2011. He then rejoined his former club Inter in 2015, but has not managed to make a positive impact – he frequently finds himself left out of the starting 11.
During his time at Newcastle, Santon made 82 appearances and scored one goal. Since his return to Inter in 2015, he has made just 22 appearances, most of which coming from the substitute bench.
The Hornets were linked with Santon previously with ex-Watford boss Walter Mazzarri looking to raid his former club. However, not much has changed since Marco Silva took the reigns at Watford, the club are still keeping a close eye on the 26-year-old.
If the Premier League club are successful in the signing of Santon, it could mean exits for current Watford defenders Brice Dja Djedje and Juan Carlos Paredes – it is thought that their services will no longer be required at the club.
