Inter Milan are set to host Genoa on Sunday at the San Siro as they look to get back to winning ways following their less than impressive draw with Bologna on Tuesday.
Genoa are yet to register their first win of the Serie A season, and with recent history at the San Siro in their favour, Inter have to close out the game on the weekend if they are to keep up with the likes of Napoli and Juventus at the top of the table.
Here is how Inter could lineup at San Siro:
Expect nothing but Samir Handanović in goal on Sunday.
Arguably Luciano Spalletti’s first choice back-line will be up against a Rossoblu side who have yet to score away from home this season, a statistic which should come as little to no concern for this defensive line as they have conceded a mere two goals in the Serie A so far.
Ivan Perisic and João Mário will offer the offensive threat slightly ahead of this midfield three, allowing Matias Vecino, Borja Valero and Antonio Candreva to control and dictate play in the middle of the park.
Roberto Gagliardini could also be in for a return to the side in place of Vecino if Spalletti feels it necessary to freshen up his midfielder following the draw midweek.
This attacking trio boasts the ability to tear the opposition apart, and after being largely stifled against Bologna there will need to be a response on Sunday if Inter are to get back to winning ways.
With the visitors boasting a less than impressive defensive record both Mauro Icardi and Perisic will hold the key to victory as they have nine goals and three assists between them in the opening five games of the season.
