Inter Milan have received a huge boost to their Serie A title chances, after finding out that the knee injury suffered by Mauro Icardi in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Torino will not be a significant setback for the star striker.
The Argentine forward has been withdrawn from national team duty, missing friendlies against Russia and Nigeria in the international break this week.
Releasing a statement on their official website, the Serie A sleeping giants put the widespread fears of their fans to rest by confirming that the goal-machine will not be sidelined for a lengthy period. The statement read:
“After taking a knock during Sunday’s game against Torino, tests results has since shown that the Nerazzurri attacker has suffered no significant injury, although there is bruising and inflammation around his right knee.
Inter will resume after the international break at home to to Atalanta, where they be looking to continue their impressive challenge on Juventus’ Serie A crown. The Turin side have won the last six league titles on the bounce, and Inter will be desperate to push for their first since 2010.
