Deputy Health Minister Pierpaolo Sileri believes Serie A could allow ‘up to a third of the stadium capacity’ back into the stands.
Serie A clubs have been allowed to have 1,000 spectators at games in 2020-21, but Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora revealed stadiums will gradually reopen from October 8.
The Deputy Health Minister believes one third of the stadium’s capacity could be filled and still be within the protocol.
“When two metres of safety are maintained, with precise rules, hugs are forbidden, with the use of masks and sanitisers,” Sileri said to Rai Uno. “Then I think we could allow up to a third of the stadium capacity to be filled.
“In the case of the Olimipco, for example, which can hold around 80,000 people, I think that we could allow around 20,000 to 25,000 fans to enter.”
