Beppe Marotta has hailed Antonio Conte for his ‘extraordinary’ work at Inter and ‘hopes’ to have more run-ins with the coach.
The pair held a joint press conference before Inter’s Serie A opener against Fiorentina, where Marotta heaped praise on Conte for his management of the squad.
“Our job is to prepare the squad in the best possible way, while being aware of the current limitations,” explained the CEO.
“We’re in the midst of a pandemic and this has created huge problems for our industrial sector. Every club is paying close attention to financial sustainability.
“Some extraordinary work has been done, thanks to Conte. We know Antonio well, we knew about his great work culture and his results, the Europa League Final and second place in the league, were not overlooked.
“We find ourselves aligned with his concept of credibility.”
Despite that, the coach hit out at the club’s board on several occasions last season and a crisis meeting was needed over the summer just to keep him at the helm.
“I hope we have more confrontations this season.
“We think they’re indicative of our desire to grow and, as sportspeople, we’re used to confrontations, which always brings about positive results.”
