Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was awarded the best manager at the Golden Boy 2020 ceremony. ‘I dedicate this prize to Paolo Rossi’.
The former Germany international turned 65 in September only a month after having seen his Bayern win the Treble in 2019-20.
Rummenigge, who played for Inter between 1984 and 1987, said he initially wanted to dedicate the prize to the Inter fans, but changed his mind after the news of Rossi’s death last week.
“I wanted to dedicate this award to the Inter fans, but what happened in the last few days made me change my mind,” Rummenigge told Tuttosport.
“I therefore dedicate it to Paolo Rossi, a person of great quality.”
Bayern are currently level with RB Leipzig at second in the German Bundesliga, trailing Bayer Leverkusen by one point after 11 games.
