Conte: ‘Inter work to reach the top’

Antonio Conte said Inter will ‘put all our energy’ into the match against Hellas Verona tomorrow. ‘We try to create a path that will lead Inter to the top’.

The Nerazzurri have won six consecutive matches in Serie A and sit one point behind League leaders Milan, but Conte is wary of Ivan Juric’s Verona, who ‘always create problems for the top teams’.

“It’s a Verona, already since last year, who are doing great things,” Conte said at a press conference. “Congratulations to Juric.

“It will be a difficult game, as they have always created problems for the top teams. We need attention and determination, knowing what we are facing.”

Conte said the Nerazzurri are prepared to put ‘all our energy’ into the last game before the winter break.

“We played two days ago, the ones who played carried out a recovery session and today we will prepare for the match against Verona.

“We will try to put all our energy into this last match of 2020.”

Despite trailing their local rivals by one point in the League, Conte said he was ‘happy’ for Milan coach Stefano Pioli.

“They are doing very well, I’m happy for Pioli,” he said. “We are trying to create a path that will lead Inter to the very first position in Serie A.

“It’s a journey made of hard work and then there’s the corporate one, which you must ask the club about.”

Conte said he will go through the plans for January with the club.

“We will discuss it with the club, some decisions were made at the beginning of the season and it’s right to discuss before the transfer market.”

Sanchez remains out until January and Conte said he’s not sure if the many injuries for the Chilean depends on himself or the work he did during the last international break.

“Honestly, I don’t know,” he added. “There’s a fairly constant fact: He’s often hurt.”
