Antonio Conte has asked Inter for a Franck Kessie type of midfielder, it’s reported, but realises N’Golo Kante is out of the question from Chelsea.
The coach had his transfer summit with directors today at the training ground and multiple sources including La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sportitalia and TMW all claim Christian Eriksen is on his way back to the Premier League, with Radja Nainggolan moving to Cagliari on loan.
They will be replaced by someone in the mould of Milan midfielder Kessie, a more rugged figure that Conte has requested for his squad.
Kante had been the ideal option, but the Gazzetta dello Sport points out Inter have now given up on ever doing a deal with Chelsea.
The rapport between the club and Conte has been tense ever since he was fired and then sued them for unfair dismissal.
Kante would cost at least €50m, so the search is on for a player with similar characteristics, rather than the more creative Eriksen.
