Buffon marks 1,100th game

Gigi Buffon makes history tonight, not just for his first game since turning 43, but his 1,100th professional football match.

The goalkeeper starts for Juventus in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Inter this evening.

Opta point out this is the 1,100th match in Buffon’s professional career, between club and country.

The shot-stopper is making this his 679th appearance for Juventus.

This is in addition to 220 for Parma, 25 for Paris Saint-Germain and 176 for Italy.

Buffon turned 43 on January 28.
