Inzaghi: ‘Lazio are always in an emergency’

Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi said he has problems picking the team ahead of the match against Sampdoria. ‘We are used to it, it’s a year of emergency’.

Manuel Lazzari and Wesley Hoedt are suspended after the 3-1 defeat to Inter last time, while Luiz Felipe and Stefan Radu recently underwent surgeries and are not expected back until March.

Inzaghi claimed Lazio ‘deserved more’ from the match against the Nerazzurri and aims to bounce back immediately against the Blucerchiati.

“In Milan we deserved more,” Inzaghi said at a press conference. “Our streak of six consecutive wins was interrupted.

“We played a great game but with mistakes that made their two first goals easier.”

Inzaghi expects some difficulties at the back when Sampdoria arrive on Saturday.

“We will have some [absentees], but we are used to it,” he continued. “[Mateo] Musacchio has an extra week of work, and [Matteo] Parolo can adapt.

“He has played several times because it’s a year where we are always in an emergency.”

Lazio face Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but Inzaghi said it’s hard to think ahead with all the difficulties and wants to focus on one game at a time.

“The will, the desire and the aggression will count a lot,” he said. “It’s difficult with all these defections.

“Let’s think about Sampdoria, then the Champions League. In the evening, I will decide who plays tomorrow.”
