The top teams in Italy show support for Spanish goalkeeper Misa Rodriguez, who was subjected to old stereotypes and sexist insults on social media.
The Real Madrid shot stopper posted an image of herself and Marco Asensio after Los Blancos’ 3-1 win against Liverpool on Tuesday.
Both photos had them celebrating, with the caption: “Same passion.”
The goalkeeper then deleted the post after having received numerous insults, mostly based on her gender.
Marco Asensio showed his support after the abuse and posted a picture of the two celebrating.
“Same passion. Let nothing and no one stop you from saying what you think,” Asensio wrote in the Tweet.
Many Italian clubs have continued the messages of solidarity by posting similar photos with the same caption.
